Aurelie Krakowsky – Aurelie is a senior, majoring in International Studies and minoring in both Journalism and Biology. She joined Atlantis in the summer of 2013 as the features writer before taking on this position. Aurelie has lived in both Guyana, South America and France. She loves honey and desperately wants a pet squirrel. After graduation she plans to move to New York City and dreams of working for National Geographic.
Daniel Dawson – Dan is a sophomore majoring in English and Communication Studies. He has been on the Atlantis staff as the layout editor since spring 2013. He loves working with all the creative and quirky minds on staff, as well as seeing what diverse work the UNCW community can produce. Used books and old vinyl records are two of his dearest friends. He owns more vintage clothes than your grandparents. He also likes photography, running, and playing guitar.
Henry Blanton – Henry is a graduate student in the English Department who has been on staff since the end of fall 2013. He shares his hometown, Bakersfield, CA, with Buck Owens, Korn, and Earl Warren. Henry’s interests include Greek Literature, American Sign Language, F.C. Ware, and Jazz. He is a Go enthusiast, a strategy game played primarily in Japan and Korea, and is known for his skill in dual wielding daikon.
Katelyn Kerns – Katelyn is a senior Computer Science major and has been the web editor for Atlantis since summer 2013. When she is not doing homework, she can be found eating dessert and binge-watching Parks and Recreation.
Janina Plascencia – Janina is a junior Studio Art major, concentrating in oil painting and sculpture. She joined the staff as art editor in the late fall 2013.
Mekiya Walters – Mekiya Walters is studying Creative Writing and Psychology. He has lived in Asheville, North Carolina and Hyderabad, India, enjoys baking and fedoras, teaches Tae Kwon Do periodically, can personally vouch for the existence of unicorns, and will someday institute a worldwide revolution using only double-ply color-changing sock yarn and size 2 needles. He has previously served as a volunteer fiction and poetry reader for Atlantis. Mekiya assumed the role as poetry editor in fall 2013. His work has been published in Atlantis Magazine, Gulf Stream Magazine, and Diverse Voices Quarterly.
Caleb Ward – Caleb Andrew Ward is a senior, majoring in Film Studies and Creative Writing with a minor in English. He started at Atlantis in the fall of 2011 as the features writer and has now been the prose editor for two years. He is also an editor for Treehouse Magazine. Several pieces of his writing have been published in magazines such as The Squawk Back and Bound Off.
Rileigh Wilkins – Rileigh is a senior, majoring in International Studies. She has been a part of the Atlantis photography staff since fall 2011 and became photo editor in fall 2013.
Madison Roberts – Madison is a sophomore transfer student from the University of Alabama, majoring in Creative Writing. Aside from being features writer for Atlantis, she is also a member of Delta Zeta Sorority and the founder and president of the Forget Me Nots, UNCW’s organization for Alzheimer’s awareness.
Joseph Fletcher – Joey is majoring in Communication Studies and English. He is a semi-permanent resident of Independence Mall and despises all things mustard. He enjoys Sriracha, Fast and Furious movies, and writing at all times.
Jordan Mallory – Jordan is a senior, a Creative Writing major, copy-editor for Atlantis, beer-brewer, comic book aficionado, dog person, glasses wearer, book devourer, giggly friend, the black James Franco, breakfast cereal hater, fish taco master, and an amateur private investigator, but he doesn’t like labels.
Abby Chiaramonte – Abby is a Creative Writing major, concentrating in fiction writing and publishing. She has been the proofreader for Atlantis since the summer of 2013.
Mary Kresge – Mary is a senior, majoring in Communication Studies and minoring in Spanish. She is the promotions coordinator for Atlantis but has been working with the magazine since her sophomore year of college. She is a New Jersey native and loves food, using the topic as her go-to icebreaker when meeting new people. After she graduates, she plans to teach English in Spain.
Kristen Hutchinson – Kristen is a sophomore Studio Art major. She has been working on the staff since summer 2013. She also really likes puppies and dancing.
